[Review] Cosmic Star Heroine

The turn-based role-playing game genre is one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, series like Final Fantasy have moved away from turn-based combat, and most of the games that have been released this generation that do utilize turn-based combat, lack the charm and appeal that made older games so endearing. I can only think of two exceptions: gacha game Granblue Fantasy, and Cosmic Star Heroine.

[Review] Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk

I’m back with another dungeon crawler review, and his time it ’s something that I can play without hassle. I decided to give Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk a try, seeing it’s on consoles rather than on a handheld. This allowed me to not only play without restrictions but also to look at what I’m doing without tilting my head sideways. However, is the game good, or should it be locked in a labyrinth?

[Review] Marvel’s Spider-Man

Video games based on comic book franchises have by in large been lackluster. Things started to turn around however when Rocksteady released Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009. It didn’t take long for it to be hailed as the Batman game, a sentiment that I agree with. Marvel has always been behind the curve in regards to games based on their franchises, but has that changed with the PS4-exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man

Fighting games are something very near and dear to my heart. it’s one genre I really enjoy, because it challenges me to improve my reflexes. It is also one genre I’m not jaded with, meaning I won’t tell myself that a crappy game *coughvanillaStreetFighterXTekkencough* is good, or vice versa. Atlus USA has just released a new fighting game entitled Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match, but how is it?

[Review] Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl

I played the original Etrian Odyssey when it came out for the Nintendo DS in 2007, some of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard in 2008 as well as 2013’s Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan, so I have some history with the series of quest-based first-person dungeon-crawlers. The previous entries were not my cup of tea, but Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is pretty unique. This entry features a full Story mode, in addition to its standard/”Classic” mode -- a first for the series. It is also a reimagining and a remake of the first game.
